From the Quick Alert
Warning system to the Infra Red Radiant Heating System, BVH
Engineers, designed this recently completed Fire House to be state of the art.
The Task: Minimize response time
The Choice: Reflect-O-Ray® radiant
heating system by Combustion Research Corporation.
The radiant heat generated is absorbed by the floor and surrounding
equipment which provides quick and efficient comfort. The infrared rays gently warms
these large masses creating a massive heat sink which in turn keeps the occupants
comfortably warm. |

|
| The Reflect-O-Ray®
radiant heating system provides quicker response than hot air systems and directs the
energy where it is needed, at the floor level. The Btu/hr input requirements for a
conventional system would be 25-35% more than the Reflect-O-Ray® system. The
$AVING$ provided with the use of the Reflect-O-Ray® system becomes apparent. In
some cases savings as high as 70% have been realized when replacing existing systems. THE
RESULT: MORE COMFORTABLE, MORE EFFICIENT, MORE ECONOMICAL, FASTER RESPONSE
RADIANT HEAT THE BETTER CHOICE |
 |
THE DESIGN:
At the Wilson Fire House, Reflect-O-Ray® radiant tube heaters
were specified to provide instantaneous and controlled heat for each bay. Since
every emergency is different, any one of the vehicles could be called at a moments notice.
An apparatus returning from a call during cold and freezing weather can be covered
with ice. The radiant heat will assist in thawing out the fire fighting equipment,
returning the company to service quicker. The unique
design had a burner at the corner of each bay connected to radiant tubes forming an
"H" pattern. In the center of the "H", a vacuum exhauster was
vented through the roof allowing complete, even and very effective coverage throughout the
space. Individual control to each bay maximized the effect of the Reflect-O-Ray®
system. |
